Time to 'fess up: I SUCK at social media.
Like most adults, I have a great many commitments and the Needs outweigh the Wants the vast majority of the time. And while making art falls somewhere in BOTH those categories for me, posting it online takes time & a technical know-how that slows the process down. And up 'til now I admit it has felt largely unnecessary.
I have a day job. It pays my bills. I draw when I can, when I want, and 90% of that art stays buried, unfinished, in sketch-books or notebooks which only my wife ever sees.
And I (clearly) don't update the journals, the Facebook, the tweets very often. But I'm thinking I want more from this art thing than I've been getting so far, and for that I've got to put more in. And as my priorities shift, I'm learning first-hand that the social media aspect of the business has a lot more benefit than I initially considered useful.
That-to-this: in 2014 expect more of a presence from me online, albeit likely at a different venue. DA has been great, but in addition to this I intend to actually (finally!) build my own website, possibly a Facebook fan page, and use the Twitterz more.
But for now? Look me up on Twitter: AT Erkhart (that should read @... Stupid DA thinks it's "helping")
Or email any art requests to: daelan[AT]rogers.com
Thanks for stopping by.
